TRAVEL

How to get to Petra

Careem is offering two-way rides (same day) from Amman to Petra using the Promo code PETRA, simply select the Petra Light Festival car type from the app and book a private car for 10 hours. This promotion allows riders to easily travel and enjoy the Petra Light Festival with ease and convenience. Careem's two-way rides are a great way to get to Petra without the hassle of driving or worrying about transportation. Simply apply the Petra promo code when booking your ride to take advantage of this offer. Prices for two-way trips start from 95JDs, the fare can be split as the car takes up to 4 passengers.

If you’re staying in the centre of Wadi Musa, the Petra Archaeological Park is just a short walk away. Hotels further out often run a free shuttle to the visitor’s centre a couple of times a day, though it does mean you’re limited to fixed times. Otherwise there are plenty of taxis outside the visitor’s centre, especially in the afternoons, and you’ll pay about JD5 within Wadi Musa.

If you are driving to Petra, it’s 236km (around 3 hours) from the Jordanian capital Amman to Petra via the faster Desert Highway or 255km (4.5 hours) via the slower but more scenic King’s Highway. Or from the coastal resort of Aqaba to Petra is a 126km drive (2 hours) or the desert getaway of Wadi Rum (1 hour).

There’s a free car park in Petra opposite the bus stop, in front of the Petra Moon hotel. This bus stop is also where you can catch the JETT buses which connect Wadi Musa to Amman and Aqaba if you’re travelling around Jordan using public transport.

Or if you are limited on time and looking for a convenient way to visit Petra, there are various day tour packages available which include transport and entry tickets, departing from Amman and Aqaba in Jordan.

Community Impact

The Petra Light Festival is an unparalleled projection mapping experience that transforms the world wonder into a canvas for stunning and creative works of art. As the largest festival of its kind in the region, it draws in visitors from all over the world to experience the beauty and heritage of Petra in a whole new light.

But the Petra Light Festival is more than just a celebration of art and technology. It's also a commitment to the community and a drive to revitalize the city through the power of the arts. We work closely with local businesses, city officials, and community members to ensure that the festival benefits the region in as many ways as possible.

Through generous community sponsorships, and initiatives and emerging artist competition, we strive to give back to the community and promote the talents of emerging artists in the region.

With a great economic impact, the Petra Light Festival is a testament to the vibrant and talented community that we're proud to call home. We invite you to experience the magic of Petra and join us in celebrating the power of art to transform communities and ignite imaginations.
